By Aaron Humes: A 53-year-old Belizean-American nurse assistant was robbed of her gold chains at Michael Finnegan Market on Friday. The incident occurred around 1:00 PM while she was at her stall, packing up for the day.
Police have since indicated that the stolen property has been recovered; one suspect has been detained, and police are seeking another individual to assist in the investigation.
According to reports, she was approached from behind by two unidentified male assailants, one wearing a red shirt and the other dressed in black. The assailant in the red shirt violently struck her on the right side of her face before seizing two gold Cuban link chains from her neck. The stolen jewelry, valued at a combined total of $15,000, included one chain adorned with a cross medal, valued at $9,300, and another featuring a “Y” initial, worth $5,700.
The robbers fled the area on foot, heading towards Racoon Street along West Collet Canal. Police are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to their apprehension. Anyone with details is urged to come forward to assist the ongoing investigation.
