Commander Gillett promotes safety & trust at primary school in Guinea Grass

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On May 3, 2024, Commander of Community Policing Howell Gillett and his team visited the Guinea Grass Pentecostal Primary School.

Commander Gillett and his team of Community Policing officers addressed 375 students.

“We visited to discuss the harmful effects of drugs and cyberbullying among other issues.  This type of engagement provides students with valuable information and resources to make informed decisions and stay safe in their communities and online. Secondly, it helps build positive relationships between law enforcement and young people, fostering trust and cooperation,” Gillett explained.

Gillett said that having officers present in schools can deter criminal behavior and promote a safer learning environment.

Students had the opportunity to ask questions and seek guidance from the officers.

Gillett thanked the school for the invitation to interact with the students.
