By Horace Palacio: Residents of Belize should prepare for changing weather conditions today as a cold front moves into the region, bringing showers and isolated thunderstorms by afternoon and evening. The Belize Meteorological Service reports that fair weather will persist during the morning hours, with sunny skies and scattered clouds accompanied by isolated showers. However, conditions are expected to shift as the cold front approaches, leading to increased rainfall and possible thunderstorms across the country by afternoon and continuing into tonight.
Marine conditions are classified as choppy, with east-northeast winds blowing at 5-10 knots and waves reaching heights of 3 to 5 feet. Mariners are advised to exercise caution due to moderate sea states and gusty winds associated with the approaching front.
Temperatures will reach 85°F (29°C) along the coast, 88°F (31°C) inland, and 76°F (24°C) in the hills, with overnight lows dropping to 70°F (21°C) on the coast, 66°F (19°C) inland, and 63°F (17°C) in higher elevations.
Looking ahead, the weather outlook for Tuesday and Tuesday night indicates cooler and mostly dry conditions as the cold front settles over the region, bringing a drop in temperatures and clearer skies.
Tidal information includes a high tide at 8:31 AM, a low tide at 12:51 PM, and another high tide at 7:18 PM. The sun is expected to rise at 6:14 AM and set at 5:57 PM, while the moon will set at 2:48 PM today and rise again at 4:27 AM tomorrow.
Forecaster Francisca Wellington advises residents to stay prepared for changing weather patterns, particularly in coastal areas, where gusty winds and localized thunderstorms may occur later in the day.
