Coach Dale Pelayo calls 27 Under 19 Belize Men’s National Team players to training camp in preparation for 2 international tournaments

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Coach Dale Pelayo called 27 players of the Under 19 Belize Men’s National Team to training camp in preparation for two international tournaments: the Central American Football Union (UNCAF) FIFA Forward U19 Men’s Tournament and the U20 Concacaf Under 20 Championship Qualifiers.

The UNCAF FIFA Forward U19 Men’s Tournament is being conducted for the Central American countries and invited guests, Cuba, to prepare for the Concacaf Under 20 Championship Qualifiers. The tournament will be held in Tegucigalpa, Honduras from January 19-25. Belize is in Group B along with Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Cuba. Group A comprises Honduras, Panama, El Salvador, and Nicaragua.

Then, from February 23 to March 3, 2024, the team is playing as the U20 BMNT in the Concacaf qualifiers in Group A in Nicaragua. Belize will be playing against Cuba, British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, and Nicaragua.

To that end, Pelayo and his technical staff called 27 players to camp to train from Friday to Sunday, January 5-7, at the FFB Headquarters in Belmopan.

The team will be whittled down to 20 players for the UNCAF tournament.

Pelayo called three goalkeepers, eight defenders, seven midfielders, and nine forwards. Eight players are already playing with Premier League of Belize clubs. The others are from first division clubs.
