By Aaron Humes: The Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) introduced a Business Policy Roadmap listing sixteen areas of cooperation between the Chamber, fellow civil society organizations and the future Government.
Chamber President Katherine Meighan emphasized that successful businesses depend to a large extent on stability and predictability and that addressing these critical areas – tax reform, corruption, labour and migration and energy and infrastructure – will help Belize grow economically and sustainably.
The Chamber says it has not given up on campaign finance reform, a solid and sustained formula for calculation and adjustment of the minimum wage, and reform of the tax structure, while supporting such ideas as GST-Free weekends.
We’ll have more on these and other news from the Chamber in subsequent stories.
