By Horace Palacio: Political dynamics within the United Democratic Party (UDP) have shifted as the Cayo North Committee and its standard bearer, Omar Figueroa, have pledged support for Shyne Barrow’s camp. This follows a prior alignment with Tracy Panton’s faction in late 2024.

Barrow shared updates on the meeting, saying, “Great meeting with the next Area Representative for UDP Cayo North, brother Omar and his Executive Committee to plan victory for the General Elections!” The announcement comes as the UDP continues to navigate internal differences.

In addition to this development, Barrow’s legal team recently filed an application for a contempt hearing against Panton. Meanwhile, Panton has initiated legal action to prevent Barrow from appointing candidates she believes are not duly elected or endorsed as standard bearers.

The UDP leadership and supporters now await court proceedings in what has become an ongoing discussion regarding candidate endorsements and party unity.
