By Zoila Palma:  The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Sustainable Tourism Conference 2026 (STC 2026) is being held in San Pedro from April 27–30, 2026, under the theme: “Tourism in Full Color: Integrating Blue, Green, Orange, and Beyond Economies into Sustainable Planning and Development.”

Belize is hosting the regional conference that brings together stakeholders from across the Caribbean to explore innovative approaches to building a more resilient and inclusive industry.

This year’s discussions are centered on the theme of the “Color Economies,” highlighting interconnected pathways for sustainable growth.

Participants delved into the concept through targeted panel sessions that examined a range of economic dimensions.

Discussions explored management of the Black Economy, including informal tourism activity, and strategies to strengthen linkages between agriculture and tourism as part of the transition from a Brown to a Green Economy.

Sessions also highlighted opportunities within the Silver Economy, alongside the role of technology and innovation in the Yellow Economy as tools for connecting and enhancing these systems.

Topics included decarbonization strategies and regenerative tourism models tailored for coastal communities, equipping participants with tools to move from concept to implementation.
