By Breaking Belize News Staff: Cabinet has requested a full investigation into the removal of dangerous military ordnance from the Baldy Beacon area in the Cayo District by a private citizen.
During its May 26 meeting, Cabinet expressed serious concern over the incident and reminded the public that Baldy Beacon is restricted at certain times to facilitate military operations.
Earlier this week, the Belize Police Department indicated that investigators have collected statements and are reviewing the case under the Dangerous Goods Act to determine whether any offences were committed.
The allegations stem from allegations that Penner removed explosive-related materials from the Mountain Pine Ridge area, where military and explosive ordnance disposal teams were conducting operations involving old munitions and hazardous materials.
