By Zoila Palma: Motorists across Belize have reported the presence of multiple police checkpoints today as educators gather for a national demonstration in front of the National Assembly building.
The Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU) has mobilized teachers nationwide to demand an 8.5% salary increase.
The protest coincides with the inaugural sitting of the House of Representatives, scheduled for today.
