By Aaron Humes: Police on the island of Ambergris Caye have confirmed tonight, Friday, that a man has died as a result of a stabbing.
He was identified as Irvin Anderson Martinez, 28, a Bartender of DFC Area, San Pedro Town.
Preliminary reports say that around 6 p.m. Irvin and his common-law wife who both work at Mahogany Bay Village Resort were on their way home when Irvin got involved in an altercation with 3 young men of fair complexion, which led to one of the persons inflicting a single stab wound to Irvin; they then fled the scene. Irvin was then rushed to the San Pedro Polyclinic where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police have detained several persons pending investigation of murder, which continues.
