By Breaking Belize News Staff: A second suspect has been arraigned in connection with the attempted murder of Ladyville resident Lionel Nigel Logan, who was shot and injured in April.

Twenty-one-year-old Brandon Christian Villamil, an unemployed resident of Bachelors Avenue, Belize City, was arraigned on Wednesday morning in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court.

Villamil, who appeared unrepresented before a Senior Magistrate in Court #2, was charged with three indictable offenses: attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm, and dangerous harm.

Due to the serious nature of the offenses, bail was denied and Villamil was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until June 15, 2026.

He now joins co-accused Akeem Fernando Ferguson, 30, of Ladyville, who was previously arraigned in connection with the same incident on April 14, 2026.

During the arraignment, Villamil asked the court for a copy of the police facts against him, which was provided. He also inquired about bail and was informed by the Senior Magistrate that only the High Court could entertain a bail application before the expiration of 90 days.

Police say the incident occurred on Saturday, April 11, 2026, shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Henry Street, a dirt road behind Delmart Hardware Store on Perez Road in Ladyville Village.

Investigators reported that Logan was walking along the street when he was approached by two men and an altercation ensued. During the confrontation, Logan was allegedly stabbed to the lower back and shot once.

Police responding to the scene found Logan suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and stab wound on a cement verandah. Authorities said Logan identified “Akeem Ferguson” as the person who shot him before he was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Police later detained Ferguson after reviewing information and video footage connected to the shooting.
