By Zoila Palma: On March 19, 2025, Mayor of Belmopan Pablo Cawich discussed the importance and advantages of artificial intelligence (AI) and public-private partnerships at the Smart City Summit and Expo in Taipei, Taiwan.
Mayor Cawich shared his insights on the topic with the General Assembly, alongside numerous other mayors and government officials from various cities and countries.
Following his speech, Mayor Cawich was invited to Taipei City Hall, where he met with the Mayor of Taipei, Chiang Wan-an.
Both mayors reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the sister city relationship between Belmopan and Taipei.
During his visit, Mayor Cawich also engaged in discussions on key issues affecting Belmopan, including capacity building, flood mitigation, urban planning, and infrastructure development. Before concluding his visit, he extended an invitation to Mayor Chiang Wan-an to visit Belmopan.
