By Zoila Palma: The National Sports Council has hailed the success of the inaugural Primary School Super Nationals 2026, describing the event as a showcase of the future of Belizean sports.
Over two days of competition, student-athletes from across the country competed under their district banners, displaying determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship in Football, Basketball, Volleyball, and Kids Athletics.
The National Sports Council said that the event was about more than competition, bringing together young athletes from different districts with a common goal of representing their communities and striving for championship honors.
Belize District emerged as a dominant force in several team sports, capturing first place in Male Football, Male Basketball, Male Volleyball, and Female Basketball.
Cayo also enjoyed a strong showing, winning the Female Football, Female Volleyball, and Kids Athletics championships. Other districts earning podium finishes included Orange Walk, Toledo, Corozal, and Stann Creek.
The National Sports Council congratulated all participants, medalists, MVPs, coaches, parents, officials, and district delegations for helping make history at the first-ever Super Nationals.
Individual MVP honors went to Zayden Brown and Cindy Tillet in football, JayPaul Torres and Kenya Gillett in basketball, Mattew Quan and Martina Lopez in volleyball, and Keithon Frazer of Toledo and Sonnaejah Flowers of Belize in Kids Athletics.
