By Breaking Belize News Staff: On May 19, 2026, a Belizean deportee joined others who were sent from the U.S. to St. Kitts and Nevis under a “safe-third country” agreement.

The deportation of the Belizean and 2 Jamaican nationals signaled the official implementation of an agreement between the United States and the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis regarding the relocation of CARICOM citizens.

The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis confirmed the arrivals and noted that they were not deported due to criminal convictions, but rather for administrative immigration violations within the United States.

The Government indicated that the Belizean national will receive the standard immigration status and legal accommodation ordinarily granted to CARICOM citizens.

At this time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is yet to comment on this.
