By Horace Palacio: The Belize National Meteorological Service forecasts somewhat moist and unstable conditions across the country today, July 30, 2024. Residents can expect sunny skies interspersed with cloudy spells throughout the day. While a few showers or thunderstorms are anticipated in southern districts, isolated showers or thunderstorms may occur elsewhere.
Mariners should be prepared for choppy seas with waves reaching 3-5 feet and east-northeast winds blowing at 10-20 knots. Coastal areas will experience temperatures ranging from 82°F (28°C) to 88°F (31°C), while inland temperatures will reach a warmer 93°F (34°C) before cooling down to 74°F (23°C) overnight. Hilly regions can expect temperatures between 68°F (20°C) and 80°F (27°C).
The National Meteorological Service reports no tropical cyclone formation is expected in the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, or Gulf of Mexico within the next 48 hours. Looking ahead to Wednesday and Wednesday night, partly cloudy skies with isolated showers or thunderstorms are expected, with an increase in showers over the south on Wednesday night.
High tide is expected at 7:31 PM today, and low tide will occur at 1:04 PM and 11:26 PM. The sun rose at 5:31 AM and will set at 6:26 PM today, while the moon will set at 2:36 PM today and rise again at 1:48 AM tomorrow.
