By Zoila Palma:  On October 23, 2026, the Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA) said that it welcomes the introduction of the Digital Border Crossing Card, available without an application fee to eligible Mexican nationals from Quintana Roo, Yucatán, Campeche, Chiapas and Tabasco.

“This development marks an important milestone in strengthening cross-border tourism and opening a wider regional gateway to Belize.

For BTIA, this milestone reflects years of sustained advocacy on behalf of our tourism private sector for easier travel between our neighbouring countries. It creates new opportunities for visitors to experience Belize and for local businesses and communities to benefit from a stronger regional market,” the BTIA said.

The BTIA says that it has already taken proactive steps to bring tourism businesses from both countries together.

The BTIA further acknowledged the Government of Belize and the authorities involved in advancing this initiative.

“We look forward to welcoming more of our Mexican neighbours to discover Belize,” it said.
