Belize to face Costa Rica on Saturday in NORCECA U23 Men’s Pan American Cup classification match

The matchup was confirmed following Friday’s quarterfinal results, where Costa Rica (1–2 in pool play) fell 0–3 to the United States (2–1) in straight sets (25–14, 25–13, 25–19). Earlier in the evening, Mexico (1–2) swept Guatemala (2–1) with a 25–16, 25–18, 25–20 victory, sending both Central American sides into the classification bracket alongside Belize (0–3) and Suriname (0–3).
Quarterfinal Outcomes – Friday, August 1
United States swept 
Costa Rica (25–14, 25–13, 25–19)
Mexico swept 
Guatemala (25–16, 25–18, 25–20)
These results confirmed Costa Rica as Belize’s Saturday opponent.
Belize had Friday off to regroup after a challenging group stage. The young squad opened the tournament with a spirited effort against Mexico, winning the first set 31–29 before dropping the next three (21–25, 21–25, 22–25) in a 3–1 loss. Against Dominican Republic (3–0), Belize held their ground in stretches, falling 0–3 (22–25, 16–25, 23–25), and on Thursday, they pushed the United States hard in the opening set before eventually succumbing 0–3 (24–26, 16–25, 13–25).
Saturday’s clash against Costa Rica offers Belize a chance to secure their first win of the tournament and build momentum heading into Sunday’s final placement match.
Sunday Outlook
Regardless of Saturday’s result, Belize will play again on Sunday, August 3—either in the 5th place final at 2:00 pm or the 7th place match at 12:00 pm. Their opponent will be Guatemala or Suriname, who meet in the other classification match at 2:00 pm on Saturday.
With the tournament winding down, Belize’s young squad will look to finish strong and gain valuable experience on the international stage.

Today, Saturday, the United States and Mexico will play the semifinals against undefeated group winners Venezuela and Dominican Republic, respectively. These matches will determine who advances to the medal round.
The Final and Bronze Medal games are set for Sunday, wrapping up a week of intense competition and regional pride.
