By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Fans across the country are gearing up for Week Four of the Belize Premier Basketball League (BPBL), as teams hit the courts in pivotal matchups that could shake up the standings.
The action begins on Friday, June 6, at the UB Gymnasium in Belmopan, where the Capital City Kings (0-2) will take on the Belize City Thunderbolts (2-2) at 8:00 p.m. Meanwhile, the Punta Gorda Sporting Auditorium will host the Punta Gorda Panthers (0-1) as they face off against the Corozal Cerros Suns (1-1) at 9:00 p.m.
The Panthers will take the court again on Saturday, June 7, in a rematch against the Suns at 8:00 p.m. That same evening, basketball enthusiasts will witness Ez Investments Griga (DB) (1-1) clash with the San Pedro Tiger Sharks (2-0) at the Russel Chiste Garcia Auditorium in Dangriga.
Week Four wraps up on Sunday, June 8, at the Belize City Civic Center, where the Belmopan Capital City Kings (0-2) will go head-to-head with the San Pedro Tiger Sharks (2-0), the current top-ranked team in the league with an undefeated record.
With teams battling for positioning, fans can expect intense competition.
BPBL Standings going into Week Four
As teams prepare for the upcoming games, here’s how they stand in the league:
1️⃣ San Pedro Tiger Sharks (2-0) – Sitting atop the standings with a perfect record, the Tiger Sharks look to extend their winning streak.
2️⃣ Cayo Western Ballaz (2-1) – Holding second place, they’ve shown strong performances both at home and on the road.
3️⃣ Belize City Thunderbolts (2-2) – After dropping their last two games, they’ll need a win this week to stay competitive.
4️⃣ EZ Investments Dangriga Dream Ballers (1-1), Corozal Cerros Suns (1-1) – Both teams are looking to build momentum after early-season victories.
6️⃣ Belmopan Capital City Kings (0-2) – Hoping to secure their first win of the season.
7️⃣ Punta Gorda Panthers (0-1) – Eager to bounce back from a tough loss.
