By Zoila Palma: The spirit of discipline and determination was on full display Thursday, July 24, 2025, as the Belize Police Youth Cadet Corps hosted its annual National Foot Drill Championship at Escuela Secundaria Técnica México in San Roman.
Cadets from 4 regional teams—Southern, Northern, Western, and Central—competed in 3 rounds of precision drills, showcasing months of practice and teamwork.
Spectators were treated to sharp routines and tightly contested performances, making for a high-energy event.
In a thrilling finish, Northern Region claimed the title of 2025 National Champions, followed by Central Region as sub-champions, and Southern Region in third place.
The competition also featured a “Last Man Standing” match, where Private Estrella Cordova of the San Lazaro Cadets outlasted her peers to take the win.
Judging the event were Insp. Kenroy Elijio, Sgt. Major Lucas, and Cpl. Kenroy Mariano, whose careful evaluation of each team’s performance helped determine the final rankings.
Organizers extended heartfelt thanks for their exceptional work.
The event’s motto, “One more practice, one less excuse, one step closer,” rang true as the cadets demonstrated not only skill, but commitment to growth and excellence.
