By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belize’s newly appointed Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Ambassador Oscar Arnold, joined students and senior government officials this week in a tree-planting exercise aimed at helping create a greener and more sustainable Belize.

The activity was held at Our Lady of Fatima Primary School and brought together students, Cabinet Secretary Stuart Leslie, several Chief Executive Officers, and representatives of the Greening Belize Initiative.

The event forms part of the government’s ambitious goal of planting one million trees nationwide by 2035.

Organizers say the initiative is designed to increase forest cover, improve environmental sustainability, strengthen climate resilience, and encourage greater public participation in conservation efforts.

Students played a central role in the activity, helping to plant young trees throughout the school grounds while learning about the importance of environmental stewardship.

Ambassador Arnold’s participation comes just days after he officially assumed duties as CEO in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade following his tenure as Belize’s Ambassador to Mexico.

Government officials say involving young people in projects such as these is critical to building a culture of environmental responsibility and ensuring future generations remain committed to protecting Belize’s natural resources.

The Greening Belize Initiative continues to expand across the country as schools, communities, businesses, and government agencies work together toward the national target of one million trees.
