Belize fall 3-0 to Kosovo in their last game in UEFA U16 Youth Development Tournament in Albania

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Under 16 Belize Men’s National Team (U16 BMNT) fell 3-0 to Kosovo in their final game in the U16 Youth Development Tournament in Albania on Friday, March 7.

The match kicked off at 4:30 am Belize Time (11:30 am Albania time) at the House of Football Stadium in Albanian capital, Tirana.

Kosovo scored in the 3’, 45’+1, and 56’.

Belize started out with a 9-0 loss in the opener to hosts Albania on Saturday, March 2. However, Belize bounced back with their first win over a European side when they edged San Marino 4-2 in penalty kicks after a 1-1 in regulation time on Monday, March 4.

D. Alessandro Valle scored in the 14^thminute for a 1-0 Belize lead but San Marino tied the match 1-1 with a 90^th minute goal. The U20 BMNT prevailed 4-2 in the subsequent shootout. Jasien Gutierrez, Tyrone Linares, Stepen Lopez, and Christopher Glenn scored Belize’s penalty-kick goals.

The U16 BMNT now returns to Belize to keep preparing for the UNCAF U16 Men’s Championship to be held in June and the Concacaf Championship U16 Boys Qualifiers scheduled for August.
