The game is not over yet, but Belize have secured their first ever Central by virtue of winning the first two sets against Guatemala in the XX U-21 Women’s Central American Volleyball Championship at the Belize City Civic Center.
Belize is leading 25-17, 25-18. That’s enough to celebrate the championship.
Even if Guatemala were to bounce back and win the next three, which doesn’t seem feasible, Belize already have 17 points. Guatemala can now only make 15.
The title is the first gold medal for any Belizean team in volleyball, coming on the heels of several silver medals won at home and a bronze last month in Honduras.
