The northern entrance to Belize City was transformed into a festive spectacle on Monday night as the Belize City Council hosted the 2025 Christmas Lighting of the Sir Manuel Esquivel Overpass. The event followed last weekend’s downtown Christmas Tree Lighting at Battlefield and Mule Parks, extending the city’s celebrations into another landmark space.
“A glowing and unforgettable evening unfolded at the 2025 Christmas lighting of the overpass with holiday spirit and joyful celebration,” the Belize City Council said in describing the event.
“The night came alive with Christmas music, warm smiles, and families enjoying another memorable Belize City Council holiday tradition.
“Residents were treated to free drinks courtesy of Coca-Cola, wine sampling sponsored by MADISCO, and holiday goodies made possible through the support of Sancas, Snackers, and Excelsior. “

The Council expressed gratitude to sponsors and attendees, noting: “Your presence and support helped make this year’s lighting truly special. Here’s to a bright, joyful, and blessed Christmas season from your Belize City Council!”
The lighting of the Sir Manuel Esquivel Overpass adds another highlight to Belize City’s festive calendar, ensuring that both Southside and Northside share in the joy of the season.
