By Aaron Humes: Following the arrest of 19-year-old Kenrick Robinson, who has been formally charged with the murder of 19-year-old Jamir Cambranes, at the weekend, police announced on Monday that they continue their investigation and seek three additional male suspects in connection with the case.
The murder occurred on the evening of April 22, when Cambranes left his Belize City home and thereafter sent his location electronically to his girlfriend before going off-grid; his body was later found along the Burrell Boom-Hattieville Road. Assistant Superintendent (ASP) Stacy Smith, Police Staff Officer, confirmed details during a press briefing: “As a consequence of the ongoing investigation of the murder of 19 year old Jamir Cambranes, which occurred on 22nd April 2026, police have formally arrested and charged 19 year old Kenrick Robinson of Belize city for the crime of murder. Police are seeking 3 more male persons in connection with this investigation.”
Police have not established a clear motive for the murder per ASP Smith: “No clear motive has been established; however, I can say that this arrest and the other impending arrests are substantiated by footages that have been retrieved from the crime fusion center and as I indicated on the last occasion the processing of both the scene and the vehicle also aided in the investigation,” she stated.
When questioned about the potential involvement of gangs, ASP Smith was careful not to speculate. “The individuals who are being sought? Well, they have not been convicted of being member of a gang so I will not pass any speculation as it related to that and as I stated no clear motive has been established,” she noted.
Following the arraignment, Robinson has been remanded to prison. Police are encouraging anyone with information regarding the ongoing investigation or the suspects to come forward.
