Belize City man found dead in vehicle

By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Yoans Rivas, 30, of Brown Street, Belize City, whose body was found in his green Toyota Camry around noon Monday.

According to police, Rivas had consumed much alcohol on Sunday while visiting his girlfriend at her residence on Antelope Street Extension. She decided to drive him home and parked the vehicle inside the yard, and he opened the right front passenger door as if to exit the vehicle. She gave him the vehicle keys and left him still alive.

However, she was called back to the residence on Monday as his brother was unable to find him and they found him inside the vehicle in the right front passenger seat, motionless but uninjured except for a superficial cut wound to the right hand.

A post-mortem examination has been scheduled.
