By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The sunshine is holding, and the heat is climbing. Belize faces another mostly fair and warm day, with inland temperatures reaching a sizzling 95 degrees, the hottest reading of the week, while Tropical Storm Bertha weakens far to the north along the United States Gulf coast.

According to the National Meteorological Service, a light easterly airflow will support mostly fair and warm weather conditions. Skies will be sunny with cloudy spells today and partly cloudy tonight, with only isolated showers expected.

Temperatures along the coast will reach a high of 89 degrees Fahrenheit (32 Celsius) and a low of 82 (28 Celsius). Inland areas will bear the brunt of the heat, climbing to 95 degrees Fahrenheit (35 Celsius) before dropping to 73 (23 Celsius). In the hills, expect a high of 82 degrees Fahrenheit (28 Celsius) and a cool low of 66 (19 Celsius). With the mercury that high inland, staying hydrated and limiting midday sun exposure is the sensible play.

At sea, conditions stay gentle, with easterly winds of 5 to 15 knots, a light chop, and waves of 2 to 4 feet.

On the tropical front, Bertha continues its retreat from relevance for our area. At 6:00 a.m., Tropical Storm Bertha was centered near latitude 29.5N, longitude 92.4W, about 145 miles west-southwest of New Orleans, Louisiana, moving west at 13 mph with maximum sustained winds down to 45 mph. Elsewhere in the region, tropical cyclone formation is not expected over the next 48 hours.

Looking ahead to Friday and Friday night, similar weather conditions are expected, setting up another fine finish to the week.

Today’s low tides are at 12:40 PM and 11:06 PM, with a high tide at 6:59 PM and another high at 5:30 AM tomorrow. The sun rose at 5:29 AM and will set at 6:29 PM. The forecast was issued by forecaster Michelle Augustine.
