By Horace Palacio: A brazen robbery unfolded this morning at a store on Jose Maria Nunez Street in Punta Gorda Town, leaving the store owner injured and thousands of dollars stolen.

Police responded to the scene around 7:30 am after receiving a report of the incident. The store owner recounted the terrifying ordeal to officers, describing how two armed men, their faces concealed, stormed into the store around 7:10 am while he was cleaning the refrigerators. One assailant was dressed in a black long-sleeved shirt with a hoodie, while the other wore a black long-sleeved shirt and a hat, leaving only his eyes visible.

The owner attempted to flee, but one of the robbers grabbed him and pulled him back inside. They then closed the burglar bars and demanded money. One of the culprits struck the owner on the head, causing injury and fear for his life. The robbers escaped with approximately $5,000 in cash.

Police are investigating the robbery.
