By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The same 1:25 a.m. patrol that caught one man with a kitchen knife on the Belize Corozal Road turned up a second, and now both are facing charges.
The Belize Police Department reports that in the early hours of Saturday, July 12, 2026, officers patrolling in Orange Walk Town stopped a man walking along the road and advised him he would be searched for illegal drugs, firearms, or ammunition.
The search, according to police, produced a silver kitchen knife with a brown wooden handle from his right pants pocket. He was cautioned, informed of his rights, and taken to the Orange Walk Police Station.
There, he was identified as Yolandi Castillo, a 41-year-old labourer of the Belize Corozal Road. The blade was measured in his presence at 4.5 inches, then sealed with evidence tape and labelled.
Castillo was formally charged with possession of an article with a blade. Cautioned again, he opted to remain silent.
His arrest mirrors that of a 27-year-old Guinea Grass Village man stopped by the same patrol that morning, who was likewise found with a kitchen knife and charged with the identical offence.
It is worth noting that Castillo, like anyone facing a charge, is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless and until proven guilty before the court.
