By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 61-year-old Belize City man has been fined $805 after pleading guilty to possession of one gram of crack cocaine.
Louis Alfonso Romero, a labourer of Plues Street, appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he was charged with possession of a controlled drug.
Police say Romero was found in possession of one gram of crack cocaine on Sunday, August 16, 2026.
Romero wasted no time in pleading guilty to the charge.
In mitigation, he told the court that he was working and could pay a fine, adding, “Ah get bust, ah get bust.”
Romero, who is not a first-time offender, was handed a non-custodial sentence and fined $800, along with $5 in court costs.
He has until December 30, 2026, to pay the total $805. In default of payment, he faces three months’ imprisonment.
