By Zoila Palma: The Ministry of Natural Resources, Petroleum and Mining, in partnership with the Belize Maya Forest Corridor Trust, has announced that more than 3,500 acres have been added to the Trust, marking a significant achievement in Belize’s forest conservation efforts.
The newly incorporated lands help connect protected areas between the Labouring Creek Jaguar Corridor Wildlife Sanctuary and the Manatee Forest Reserve, strengthening the Maya Forest Corridor and supporting wildlife conservation.
The achievement reflects years of collaboration among the Government of Belize, conservation partners, landowners and local communities committed to protecting the country’s natural heritage and ensuring the long-term stewardship of its forests.
