By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 48 year old construction worker of Guinea Grass Village, Orange Walk District, has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly pulling a knife on police.

He is Fidencio Camara.

Police say that around 9:00pm on Sunday, October 25, officers on motorcycle patrol stopped to make checks at a store on the main road in Guinea Grass.

Camara, who was standing with a small group nearby, allegedly began shouting and cursing at the officers. When they approached him, he reportedly said he had been to jail before and did not mind going back.

Officers told him he would be searched for drugs or firearms. Police say he stepped back, refused the search and pulled a silver and blue metal object from his pocket, moving it from side to side.

Fearing for his safety, a corporal drew his service revolver and ordered Camara to drop the object. He complied and was taken to the ground and detained.

The object turned out to be a seven inch folding utility knife.

Camara was formally charged on Tuesday, October 27.
