By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 30-year-old woman has been charged with four traffic offences following a collision involving a Toyota 4Runner and a passenger bus on Belize-Corozal Road in Orange Walk Town.

Police identified the accused as Eleisaira Alejandra Pott, who was formally charged on Monday, October 26, following the accident on Sunday night.

According to police reports, officers responded to the collision at approximately 9:00 p.m. and found a white Toyota 4Runner and a blue-and-white Blue Bird bus at the scene.

Initial investigations indicate that the bus was travelling from Carmelita toward Central Park when the Toyota 4Runner, travelling in the opposite direction, allegedly attempted to turn into the 24/7 Gas Station.

Police say the SUV swerved into the opposing lane, resulting in a collision with the bus.

The impact reportedly damaged the bus’s front fenders and the Toyota’s rear right wheel.

Investigating officers reported detecting a strong smell of alcohol on Pott’s breath. She was subsequently taken to the Orange Walk Police Station, where a urine specimen was obtained.

Police also discovered that the Toyota’s insurance and vehicle licence had expired.

Pott was formally charged with driving without due care and attention, driving without third-party risk insurance, driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and using an unlicensed motor vehicle.

The bus driver was identified as 59-year-old Donaldo Benito Vasquez of Ranchito Village.
