By Zoila Palma: Benque Viejo del Carmen is preparing to celebrate culture, tradition and community spirit with the third annual Día de los Muertos Street Fest this Sunday, November 1, 2026.

The event, organized by Blazeful Vibes in collaboration with the Benque Viejo Town Council, will take place in front of the Cancha Marshalleck from 4:00 p.m. until midnight.

The festival will feature more than 35 vendors offering food, drinks and local products, along with music, live performances and competitions.

DJ IconicSound Chavez will provide the music as residents and visitors gather to enjoy the festivities.

The community is invited to participate in several competitions, including Best Decorated Booth for vendors, Best Dressed Catrín and Catrina, and Best Made Ixpasha.

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a vibrant celebration that honors the memory of loved ones who have passed away.

Through traditions such as candles, offerings and floral decorations, the celebration emphasizes remembrance, love and the enduring connection between the living and those who came before them.

Sunday’s street fest is expected to bring that spirit to life in Benque Viejo.

See you there!
