By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police are investigating a fatal road traffic accident in Orange Walk in which a pickup truck driver lost his life after crashing into the rear of a parked truck carrying cement.
According to information provided during Friday’s police press briefing, the accident occurred on Thursday, October 8, when the pickup collided with the back of the stationary truck.
Investigators said the driver of the cement truck, Rosalio Pineda, had parked his vehicle and was sitting inside when he heard a loud bang. Upon exiting, he discovered that a pickup had slammed into the rear of his truck.
The pickup driver, Jose Miranda, sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed.
Police indicated that the collision occurred near a gas station in Orange Walk and confirmed that an investigation remains ongoing.
Authorities also said toxicology testing would be conducted following the post-mortem examination as investigators work to determine the circumstances surrounding the deadly collision.
