By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 38 year old farmer of August Pine Ridge Village, Orange Walk District, has been charged with common assault.
He is Silverio Perez.
Police say a 28 year old woman reported that around 6:30pm on Saturday, October 3, she was home with her three children when her former common law husband arrived, appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and demanded $10.
When she said she had no money and asked him to leave, he allegedly refused, insulted her, then grabbed her by the neck and began choking her.
She managed to break free, but he allegedly punched her on the left side of the face. Her 12 year old daughter stepped in and pushed him away.
When the woman called police, Perez left the house.
He was formally charged on Tuesday, October 6, and chose to remain silent when cautioned.
