According to police, officers were conducting mobile patrol along Aurora Street at around 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, when they noticed a man walking in the opposite direction.

An officer ordered the man to stop and informed him that a search would be conducted for illegal drugs.

The man identified himself as Mark Anthony Hyde of San Antonio Village.

Police say Hyde was holding a paper sleeve containing his Social Security card. When officers checked the sleeve, they allegedly discovered a small black and transparent zip lock bag containing a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine.

Hyde was arrested and taken to the Orange Walk Police Station along with the substance.

At the station, police weighed the suspected cocaine in Hyde’s presence and recorded a weight of 0.3 grams.

The substance was subsequently packaged and sealed as evidence.

Hyde was formally arrested and charged with possession of controlled drugs. Police say he chose to remain silent after being cautioned.
