By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police have charged a 22 year old construction worker of Guinea Grass Village with harm following an incident at New River Park on Saturday afternoon.
According to the report, a 25 year old driver of the same village was seated under a shed at the park around 5:18pm browsing his cell phone when three men arrived on a single motorcycle, one of them carrying a bag of beer.
The complainant told police he was suddenly struck to the left eye, causing instant pain and swelling. When he stood up, he saw a man in a yellow shirt whom he recognised. He said the man took a fighting stance and challenged him to fight, and appeared to have been drinking. The two other men stood aside and watched.
A medico form was issued and the injury was certified as harm by a doctor.
Police detained Idair Alberto Linares at the park shortly after receiving information on his whereabouts. That same day, officers swore to an information and complaint, obtained a warrant in the first instance, and formally charged Linares with harm.
He was cautioned and chose to remain silent.
