By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The midweek tropical wave has moved on, and Belize returns to its August baseline: warm and relatively dry conditions, sunshine overhead, and the inland heat climbing back to 95 degrees.
According to the National Meteorological Service, skies will be sunny with a few cloudy spells today and partly cloudy tonight. Showers or thunderstorms will be isolated, with only a low chance of a few more over southern Toledo tonight, the last echo of the wave that crossed the country on Wednesday.
Temperatures along the coast will reach a high of 88 degrees Fahrenheit (31 Celsius) and a low of 82 (28 Celsius). Inland areas will return to the top of the charts, climbing to 95 degrees Fahrenheit (35 Celsius) before dropping to 74 (23 Celsius). In the hills, expect a high of 82 degrees Fahrenheit (28 Celsius) and a low of 68 (20 Celsius). With the mercury back at 95, hydration and shade breaks stay on the daily checklist.
At sea, some bounce remains behind the wave, with easterly winds of 10 to 20 knots, choppy conditions, and waves of 3 to 5 feet, so smaller vessels should keep exercising the usual care even with no caution currently in effect.
On the tropical front, the calm holds. Tropical cyclone formation is not expected in the region over the next 48 hours.
Looking ahead to Friday and Friday night, similar weather conditions are expected, carrying the sunshine toward the weekend.
