By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A quick stop at the pharmacy turned into an expensive evening for an Orange Walk taxi driver, who came outside to find his SUV scraped from fender to bumper, and the bus responsible long gone.

The Belize Police Department reports that Marcus Leiva, 54, of Trinidad Street, parked his blue Honda CR-V in front of a pharmacy on San Antonio Road at about 5:17 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, and stepped inside.

Moments later, a municipal traffic officer delivered the bad news: a red bus had sideswiped the parked vehicle. Leiva emerged to find scrape marks and dents stretching along the whole right side of the SUV, from the front fender clear back to the rear bumper.

The bus, he told police, did not stop. He was, however, able to supply its licence plate number, and he says he is willing to resolve the matter through insurance, if the driver comes forward.

Police have taken his statement and are working to retrieve video footage from the area, while the other party is yet to be located. The matter is under investigation.

Anyone who saw the collision, or the driver of the bus in question, is encouraged to reach out to the Orange Walk Police Station and help bring a simple insurance matter to a simple end.
