By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in the south are investigating a report of assault, after a woman said she was attacked in the street by her former partner while out checking on a patient.
According to the Belize Police Department, the 40-year-old woman of Santa Cruz Village visited the Santa Cruz police station on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, to make the report. She told police that earlier that evening, around 5:00 p.m., she had gone out on a street in the village to check on a patient in her care.
While doing so, she reported, she was approached by her ex-common law partner, who pulled her by the hair and punched her in the face before fleeing the scene.
Police recorded a statement from the complainant, and the matter remains under investigation. Officers have identified a man they are looking to speak with in connection with the report. No charges have been laid at this time.
