By Breaking Belize News Staff: Ladyville businessman Shane Adrian Vargas also known as “Shatta P” was shot and killed inside his mini shop on Friday night.
Police say that around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2026, cops received information that a man had been shot on Jackson Avenue in Ladyville Village, Belize District. Ladyville CIB personnel visited the area, where they approached a small zinc and wooden structure measuring about six feet by six feet.
At the entrance of the shop, police found a black 9mm magazine on the ground. Inside the structure, officers discovered a pool of blood in the middle of the shop.
Initial investigations revealed that around 8:00 p.m., 44-year-old Vargas was inside his mini shop when an unknown male person approached and fired several gunshots in his direction.
Vargas was later transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:41 p.m.
Police say the scene was processed by Scenes of Crime personnel. Two expended shells were found about 15 feet away from the structure. Officers also recovered a black magazine containing sixteen 9mm live rounds, along with blood swabs from the scene.
Several persons were spoken to, but police say no useful information was obtained. No person has been detained so far, and the investigation continues.
