By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): As Argentina prepare to take the field today, with kickoff set for 11am, all eyes will once again be on one man, Lionel Messi.

The Argentine superstar continues to rewrite the record books, and his international scoring record is nothing short of staggering. Messi has now found the back of the net 120 times for his country, and those goals have come against 41 different national teams from around the world. Perhaps the most remarkable part is that he has scored on every continent, a feat few players in the history of the game can claim.

A closer look at the numbers shows just how dominant he has been, especially against South American opposition. More than half of his international goals, 52 in total, have come against nine CONMEBOL sides. Bolivia have felt his wrath more than anyone, conceding 11 goals to Messi alone. Ecuador and Venezuela have each been beaten seven times, while Uruguay have conceded six.

Beyond his home continent, Messi has spread his goals far and wide. He has scored 27 times against 10 CONCACAF teams, including four each against Mexico and Panama. In Europe, he has netted 24 goals against 13 UEFA sides, among them multiple strikes against the likes of Croatia and France. Africa and Asia have not been spared either. Messi has scored 10 goals against four CAF nations, with Algeria conceding five, and he has added seven goals against five AFC teams.

Then there are the hat-tricks. Messi has helped himself to trebles against Panama, Guatemala, Switzerland, and even mighty Brazil, a reminder that no opponent is too big for the little maestro.

His scoring has not slowed down with age. Some of his most recent goals have come against Iceland, Angola, Zambia, and Algeria, the last of those coming at the 2026 World Cup itself.

With numbers like these, it is no wonder Belizean football fans and supporters around the world will be tuning in today. Argentina kick off at 11am, and if history is any guide, do not be surprised if Messi adds another goal, and another nation, to his incredible list.
