By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The Ministry of Immigration, Governance and Labour has issued a heartfelt tribute following the tragic death of Kiffer McKenzie, who was fatally shot in Belize City on Saturday morning.
In a statement released by Belize Immigration, officials expressed deep sadness over the loss of McKenzie, who served at the Nationality and Passports Department in the Belize City office.
The ministry extended condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues during what it described as a time of immense loss and grief.
The tribute was issued on behalf of Minister Kareem Musa, Chief Executive Officer Tanya Santos, and the wider Ministry of Immigration, Governance and Labour.
“The passing of a member of our Ministry family affects us all,” the statement noted, acknowledging the shock and sadness being experienced by many of McKenzie’s co-workers.
The ministry also encouraged staff members to support one another as they cope with the loss of their colleague.
McKenzie was fatally wounded in a shooting on Albert Street in Belize City on Saturday morning. Police investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
The ministry concluded its message by remembering McKenzie with respect and appreciation for his service to Belize and offering prayers for his loved ones during this difficult time.
