By Breaking Belize News Staff: Twenty-three-year-old Dwayne Douglas Tillett, a construction worker of Roberto Street, Belize City, has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison in connection with a March home invasion in Belama Phase 1.
Tillett appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday, June 1, where he was read two counts of aggravated assault and one count of aggravated burglary. The charges stem from a home invasion reported on March 25, 2026, at a residence on Beltex Crescent, Belama Phase 1.
Police allege that Tillett was involved in the burglary, during which armed intruders reportedly entered the home and stole jewelry valued at $15,700. The stolen items included a $10,000 gold chain, a $2,000 medal, and a gold ring valued at $2,900.
Tillett was also charged with aggravated assault upon two people in the home, allegedly with a firearm. He pleaded not guilty to all three charges.
Due to the nature of the allegations, including the alleged use of a firearm, bail was denied and Tillett was remanded to prison until August 3, 2026.
Tillett now joins his brother, 26-year-old Jory Bowden, an assistant land surveyor, who was previously arraigned on April 1, 2026, on a charge of abetment to commit aggravated burglary. Bowden also pleaded not guilty and was remanded to prison.
Police allege that text messages between Bowden and Tillett showed that the two were in communication and acted together in relation to the burglary.
Tillett is due back in court on August 3, 2026.
