By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police are investigating two reports involving Belize Coast Guard Commander Rear Admiral Gregory Soberanis, including a shooting at his home and a later incident in which he says he was threatened by a man with a gun.
Soberanis said his residence was targeted about three weeks ago while he was overseas on official business in New Orleans. He said family members contacted him after windows at the home were damaged by gunfire.
After returning to Belize, Soberanis reported the matter to police and was informed that an investigation had been launched.
Weeks later, on May 11, Soberanis said he was involved in another troubling incident in Burrell Boom Village. He reported that a man approached him, verbally threatened him, took photos of him and his vehicle, and allegedly displayed a firearm.
Soberanis said his driver also witnessed the encounter and saw the man exit a vehicle while carrying a weapon.
Both Soberanis and his driver filed official reports at the Hattieville Police Station.
