By Aaron Humes: Police say they have established that water deliveryman, 42-year-old Roberto Villafranco, was lured to the village of Chan Pine Ridge, Orange Walk District by a bogus call for water delivery.

It would cost him his life and land his co-worker in hospital, according to Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero: “Information is that both were called to that area by an unknown caller who had asked for water. When they arrived, as soon as the driver stepped out, he was shot. We had one suspect in custody, but he has been released after investigations. An investigation continues into this report.”

ACP Romero added, “We have established that it was not a robbery, it was a targeted shooting. We had one detained, but he was released. We did not have sufficient evidence, so the investigation continues. We have some footages those are being reviewed but where the shooting actually happened there are no cameras there.”
