By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two women accused of assaulting a Belize City resident during a street altercation were granted bail after an emotional arraignment in court this week.

Cyra Natalie Aranda, 21, a babysitter of Oleander Street, and Natalie Nicole Adolphus, 42, a domestic worker of the same address, appeared unrepresented before a Senior Magistrate in Court #2 of the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where they were jointly charged with common assault.

Both women pleaded not guilty to assaulting a 24-year-old woman who also resides in their neighbourhood.

During the arraignment, the defendants became emotional, claiming that it was the complainant who had been provoking and bullying them for some time. Aranda told the court through tears that she feels harassed by the woman and another individual who live across from her, alleging she cannot even leave her yard or go to work without interference. Adolphus echoed similar sentiments, stating she does not know the complainant personally but feels targeted.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at about 10:00 a.m. The complainant reported that while riding her bicycle along Peter Seco Street en route to Oleander Street, Aranda approached her and punched her. The woman alleges that Aranda then grabbed her blouse and assaulted her, causing scratches to her neck and chin. She further claimed that Adolphus joined the altercation, punching her to the left side of her face, resulting in swelling and additional injuries.

The confrontation escalated into a struggle, which was eventually broken up by nearby individuals. The woman later reported the matter to the Mahogany Street Police Station, leading to the arrest and charging of both women.

The Senior Magistrate granted each defendant bail in the sum of $1,000 plus one surety of the same amount, with conditions that they do not interfere with the complainant. The court also advised the women to formally report their allegations of harassment to police.

Both Aranda and Adolphus were able to meet bail and are scheduled to return to court on June 15, 2026.
