By Zoila Palma: The Ministry of Agriculture has announced that saulo Mesh, of San Antonio (Oxmul Kah) in the Cayo District, has been named the Male Farmer of the Year for 2026.
Mesh will be officially honored at this year’s National Agriculture and Trade Show.
This award recognizes his lifelong dedication to farming and continues the legacy of his late father, Salvador Mesh.
On his 10-acre farm, he grows a range of crops and raises poultry for the commercial market, using modern methods such as drip irrigation.
In addition to selling fresh produce, Mesh makes sorrel jam and is an active member of the Maya Green Growers Association.
Saulo continues to proudly demonstrate strong leadership and resilience, even during challenging periods for the agricultural sector.
