By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two men on remand at the Belize Central Prison while awaiting trial for murder were back in the High Court on Tuesday, where their case was adjourned once again as the matter remains at the pretrial stage.

The accused, Ulide Allen and Marquis Conorquie, are jointly charged with the murder of Stanley Jerome Moore and the attempted murder of Joshua Gillett, arising from a June 23, 2024 shooting in Belize City.

Both men have already entered not guilty pleas on indictment, but when they appeared before Justice Nigel Pilgrim on Tuesday morning, the court was still awaiting the filing of their Case Management Conference (CMC) forms.

The forms had previously been ordered to be filed in January of this year, but had still not been submitted.

Allen is represented by attorney Leeroy Banner, while attorney Ronell Gonzalez appears for Conorquie.

Justice Pilgrim adjourned the matter to April 24, 2026, and ordered that the defense attorneys file the outstanding CMC forms on or before that date.

Court records show that Allen was the second suspect to be arraigned in the matter. Police said that after being on the run for seven weeks and three days, he appeared before a magistrate on Friday, August 16, 2024, when he was formally charged with murder.

His arraignment came nearly two weeks after that of Conorquie, 24, a construction worker from the St. Martin de Porres area, who was first detained and charged in connection with the case on Monday, June 24, 2024.

According to police, the deadly shooting occurred on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at approximately 4:20 p.m.

Investigators say Joshua Gillett was driving a silver BMW with Stanley Jerome Moore in the front passenger seat as they traveled from Central American Boulevard toward Oleander Street.

When the vehicle reached the corner of Mahogany Street Extension and Amandala Drive, two men on a motorcycle reportedly pulled up alongside the driver’s side. The passenger on the motorcycle allegedly pulled out a firearm and fired several shots into the BMW, injuring both occupants.

The attackers then fled the area along Amandala Drive.

Police later found Moore’s body in the BMW at the KHMH parking lot, where he had been rushed for medical attention. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Gillett, a 27-year-old fisherman, was also treated at the KHMH for gunshot injuries and survived the attack.

Scenes of Crime personnel processed both the shooting location and the hospital parking lot, where 9mm expended shells, bullet fragments, and blood swabs were recovered as evidence.
