By Aaron Humes: On Friday evening, four young men sustained gunshot wounds while sitting on the bleachers of a local basketball court. The shooting occurred around 6:35 PM behind the Charles Bartlett Hyde building on McKenzie Street.
According to initial reports from the Crimes Investigation Branch, the victims were identified as Jahreem Staine, 22; Devon Parham, 22; Anthony Reyes, 27; and Tyrique Westby, 23. All four were found with gunshot injuries to their lower bodies and were quickly transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Medical staff confirmed that all victims are currently in stable condition.
According to investigators, the assailant emerged from beneath the bleachers, opening fire indiscriminately at the group, before fleeing the area. Eyewitnesses also reported a second male firing at the shooter as he made his escape. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and police are actively investigating.
